Early Life
Born in Nova Scotia, August Ames grew up living all over Canada as an army brat; her father was in the service. Ames was a late-bloomer, saying that men didn't find her attractive until she suddenly "got hot." Prior to porn, Ames worked as a nanny, animal-assisted aide, and a horseback trainer - where she taught disabled children how to ride horses for therapy. She also worked as a yoga and zumba instructor. Before she shot her first scene, Ames was working two jobs - bartending and working at a tanning salon. Describing herself as impulsive, one day she grew fed up with her boring jobs and decided to try out a career in porn.

Career
Interestingly enough, August Ames had never watched porn before getting into the industry. She began modeling on a local level in Canada; her first foray into XXX was a solo stocking fetish scene. Of this, Ames says, "[I was] trying on different stockings, wiggling my toes, stuff like that. I was trying not to laugh the whole time. It was so easy." Her family was surprisingly supportive of her decision to move to California to pursue a career in adult entertainment. And while she complained of growing up in a small town with small-minded people, she was similarly surprised that her hometown reacted positively to her porn career when they found out about it.

Once in California, August Ames was picked up for her first boy/girl scene with Wicked Pictures for the movie Selfies. Her favorite studios to work with were Brazzers, BangBros, and especially Evil Angel. Ames married Evil Angel director Kevin Moore, but the couple kept their home life together relatively private. Ames' favorite male talent to work with, besides her husband, was Manuel Ferrara. She also appeared in family fantasy, interracial, lesbian, group sex, lite bondage, plot/parody, and massage scenes. In 2016, Ames became the main spokesperson for BaDoinkVR in their Virtual Sexology program, which teaches male users how to please a woman. Ames aspired for mainstream crossover success, and was approached with modeling and acting opportunities outside of porn often. 

Ames was found dead at Camarillo Grove Park in Camarillo, California, in the early morning hours of December 5, 2017, due to suicide by hanging.
